Alabama Act 96-793 makes it a Class C Felony for any criminal sex offender to violate any Alabama Community Notification act of 1996 provision or to establish a legal residence within 2000 feet of any public school, private school, day care center, or any other child care facility or within 1000 feet of any of his or her former victim(s) or where, except as provided by law, a person 18 years of age or younger resides.

SORNA ACT No. 2011--‐640 was signed by Governor Bentley June 9, 2011 and it’s Effective Date was July 1, 2011
This law is the State of Alabama’s adoption of the federal sex offender guidelines.
It is referred to as Alabama Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA)
This act has Repealed previous registration and notification laws and also;
Places registration and notification together into one Act.
Closes loop holes in the current law.
